By paying close attention to what high-performance windows can do for their Homeowner and Builder/Contractor customers, Retailers and Manufacturers can get ahead of their competition when they:
Understanding the needs and wants of your customers and delivering the right solution is vital to successfully sell them on the product. According to a nationwide survey sponsored by the non-profit National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC), consumers in the market for windows care most about how much competing products will reduce their energy bills and about how long the products will last. The same is true for consumers in the market for skylights and doors.
Of those surveyed, 97 percent said that energy performance would be an "important" or "very important" factor in their decision. Homeowners ranked durability as the second most important factor (92 percent), followed by price (88 percent), appearance (87 percent), and warranty (87 percent).
The National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) is an international coalition that administers testing, certification and labeling of windows, skylights and doors. NFRC sets energy test standards and administers ratings by independent labs. The NFRC energy performance label helps builders, retailers and consumers reliably compare one product to another.

The ENERGY STAR® Windows program, created by the Department of Energy (DOE) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), encourages consumer preference for energy efficient window products.
